The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and the North Coast 护理人员 Program are designed to train you to respond safely in emergency medical situations. Upon completion, you will be prepared to become certified.

Emergency Medical Technician

The Emergency Medical Technician program is a 1-semester program designed to train individuals to respond safely in emergency medical situations. Program content consists of theory and skills on life-support measures, the use of medical emergency equipment and supplies, and an ambulance module. Job opportunities are in hospital emergency rooms, ambulance companies, and other health care 年龄ncies. The EMT course is offered each Fall and Spring semesters based on open enrollment.

A refresher course is also offered each one to two years to assist EMT's in maintaining current certification. For additional information about these courses contact CR's Adult and Community Education 项目.

Important Information


  • Must be 18 years of 年龄 to be eligible for State certification.
  • May take State certification exam within two years of successful course completion.
  • A 10-panel urine drug screen is required 30 days before the beginning of your clinical experience. Positive results mean you cannot attend clinical per clinical 年龄ncy contract. Inability to attend clinical will result in being dismissed from the course. 

Important Information


  • Applicants must be a High School Graduate or general education equivalent, hold current EMT certificate, and valid basic life support card.
  • Criminal Background check and livescan fingerprint background check is required.
  • Physical Exam and proof of immunizations completed during the first 5 weeks of the fall semester
  • Program begins in the fall. Field Experience begins the following summer.

护理人员

The North Coast 护理人员 Program builds on the knowledge and skills gained as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). The program provides comprehensive study of pre-hospital emergency care that meets State of California requirements for a 护理人员 license and prepares students to sit for the National Registry paramedic exam.

The 33-unit program, only available to people who already are EMT-1 certified, and have submitted an application to the Health Occupations Office, will run fall/spring semesters with a summer/fall internship. For the convenience of those who are working full-time, the class for fall and spring semesters will be held on Fridays from 2 p.m. 至晚上九点半.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. 对4:30p.m. 

The 护理人员 Program is intended as a structured course of study that cannot be divided into separate component parts.  Therefore, no advanced placement, credit for experiential learning, or transfer credit is available.
